8 Rivers

8 Rivers is a Durham, North Carolina–based clean energy and climate technology company leading the global energy industry towards achieving net zero. Since 2008, 8 Rivers has been pioneering infrastructure-scale technologies that can drastically reduce or remove CO2 emissions. We’re proud to be a growing, world-class team of engineering and business experts working together to commercialize technologies and deliver projects across multiple sectors, with a focus on oxy-combustion and ultra-low carbon intensity processes. The 8 Rivers technology portfolio includes ultra-low carbon hydrogen production (8RH2), transformative low-carbon power cycles (Allam-Fetvedt Cycle), and hyper-efficient direct air capture (Calcite). With more than $1B in funding raised into our portfolio, we hold more CO2-related patents than any other entity in the world, and we are actively deploying our technology into projects in the US and abroad. Our diversified suite of technologies was developed to help the hardest-to-decarbonize sectors achieve their net-zero goals by prioritizing the balancing of economics and science. 8 Rivers is speeding the arrival of a net-zero world where clean energy powers human prosperity.

Houston Energy Transition Initiative (HETI)

Houston has long been recognized as the Energy Capital of the World. The energy transition will indelibly reshape Houston’s economy, as well as Houston’s role in the global economy. In 2022, the Greater Houston Partnership launched the Houston Energy Transition Initiative (HETI), with the goal of ensuring the long-term economic competitiveness of the region through the transition to an energy-abundant and low-carbon future. Over the last two years, Houston has become a hub of energy transition activity – the place where energy innovation and opportunity meet scale. This interactive installation showcases Houston’s significant progress toward its energy transition goal, highlighting the partnerships, collaborations, and projects happening across the region

Radia

A highlight of the installation is an eight-foot scale model of Radia’s WindRunner™, the world’s largest aircraft. Radia is designing and building WindRunner to deliver GigaWind – the largest wind turbine blades of today and tomorrow – directly to wind farms. WindRunner will overcome literal roadblocks – bridges, tunnels and road curves – that currently impede delivery of these large, highly efficient turbine blades and components. The result will be onshore wind energy in more places at lower cost and at industrial scale. By taking to the skies, Radia will enable production of cheaper green electrons and green molecules – helping make renewables profitable and the world’s climate targets achievable. Visit Radia to learn more about WindRunner and GigaWind
